Virtual Self-Collection and Land Border Crossing for LifeLabs
LifeLabs has been serving the healthcare needs of Canadians for more than 50 years. Annually, they perform over 112 million laboratory tests to help diagnose, treat, monitor and prevent diseases for millions of Canadians. Headquartered in Ontario, their multifaceted business offers general diagnostic testing, naturopathic testing, and genetic testing to help customers make informed decisions about their health and treatment.
The Challenge
During the height of the pandemic, the federal government required travellers (visitors, permanent residents and citizens) to obtain a COVID-19 test before arriving in Canada.
LifeLabs approached Convergine to build a new functionality on top of its existing shopping cart front-end/back-end solution. This would be for airport arrivals virtual self-collection (VSC) day 1/day 8 and for land border crossing VSC customers to register for VSC tests.
The Solution
Front-end Customer Flow
The front-end customer flow is similar to the FlyClear (a pre-departure COVID-19 testing application we built for LifeLabs) outbound flow. We aimed to make every potential customer touchpoint as streamlined as possible and allow our client to deliver an exceptional buyer experience.
Integrations With FedEx Partner API
As part of the VSC B2C project, customers must be in an area where their samples can be sent to a LifeLabs lab. To facilitate this, LifeLabs requested integration with the FedEx partner API with specific requirements.
Additional Integration
Additionally, Convergine worked on integrating with LifeLabs’ technology partner, which collects all the customer’s information. The primary purpose of the integration is to provide seamless integration within both systems exchanging data. From the front-end perspective, the LifeLabs special VSC department has access to its dedicated verification tool for downloading the requisition on the customer’s behalf.
